Meet the Tutor

Dr Paul Haseler

PHD Medicinal Chemistry and Immunology, BA Mathematics

Hello, my name is Paul and I grew up in the Reading area. I have had dyslexic tendencies and spent many years in learning support myself so I have first hand experience how learning can be a challenge.
I studied Degree and MA Chemistry at University of Nottingham.
I received the prestigious Maurice Wilkins scholarship to do medicinal chemistry and immunology at Auckland University in New Zealand. My PhD was on the synthesis and testing of anti-cancer vaccines.
After gaining my PHD, I returned to England as a Senior Chemist making HIV drugs.
I decided to leave the Lab and come back to Reading where I started tutoring on the side. I also volunteered at MENCAP during this time.
Did a Maths Degree for fun and gained a First Class Honours at University of Reading.
In 2020, a German Shepherd/Akita called Freja came into my life and in 2023, my daughter Zara was born. My spare time is mainly used playing boardgames, listening to audiobooks and trying to persuade the baby to go to sleep.
